The GPS is consistently being enumerated by the system as a “serial ballpoint mouse”. Using a text editor such as Notepad open the Boot. Here is my own research on the topic: I went into the Device Manager showing that Windows 7 mocrosoft installed the Microsoft BallPoint mouse into the system on those com’s. There is a reg file that will do the editing for you also. XP didn’t do this?!!!

I am working on trying to find a solution to this Many RS serial devices including scales, GPS receivers and some measuring instruments are designed to transmit continuous data out a serial port. I’ll try having the PC application microoft for updates instead, and wait for a second or two before making the first request.
